Muchas de las \u00faltimas terapias se han dise\u00f1ado para tratar tumores con un perfil gen\u00e9tico espec\u00edfico. Un tratamiento que es efectivo para un tipo de c\u00e1ncer puede ser eficaz para otros que comparten mutaciones similares. Pero estas mutaciones var\u00edan en cada individuo e incluso pueden cambiar durante el tratamiento. En este contexto, el objetivo es maximizar la gen\u00f3mica con tecnolog\u00eda cognitiva basada en inteligencia artificial para ayudar a los cl\u00ednicos a identificar terapias potenciales asociadas al gen alterado identificado en la secuenciaci\u00f3n de la muestra de tumor del paciente.<\/p>\n<p>Frente al c\u00e1ncer, es clave acelerar la identificaci\u00f3n de tratamientos terap\u00e9uticos basados en el an\u00e1lisis de datos gen\u00f3micos y dirigidos a la especificidad de cada paciente oncol\u00f3gico. Se trata de potenciar la oncolog\u00eda de precisi\u00f3n y para ello Sistemas Gen\u00f3micos est\u00e1 implantando la tecnolog\u00eda IBM Watson for Genomics. De hecho, Sistemas Gen\u00f3micos tiene gran experiencia en secuenciaci\u00f3n masiva a trav\u00e9s de paneles dirigidos de genes y exoma completo para la detecci\u00f3n de mutaciones tumorales. La apuesta por herramientas bioinform\u00e1ticas y por tecnolog\u00eda cognitiva permite la asociaci\u00f3n de cada mutaci\u00f3n con potenciales tratamientos en el mercado y ensayos cl\u00ednicos existentes.<\/p>\n<p>Este enfoque orienta al especialista a seleccionar, entre todas las alternativas, la opci\u00f3n terap\u00e9utica \u00f3ptima para cada paciente. \u201cA pesar de los avances significativos en oncolog\u00eda de precisi\u00f3n, el reto inform\u00e1tico de interpretar informaci\u00f3n gen\u00f3mica sigue siendo una barrera cr\u00edtica para que m\u00e9dicos y pacientes puedan acceder a importantes avances en terapias dirigidas\u201d, comenta la doctora Sonia Santill\u00e1n, responsable de la Unidad de Gen\u00e9tica M\u00e9dica de Sistemas Gen\u00f3micos. \u201cEs realmente motivador poder extender el acceso a la oncolog\u00eda de precisi\u00f3n para que onc\u00f3logos de toda Europa dispongan de toda la informaci\u00f3n gen\u00f3mica en plazos realmente breves\u201d. El objetivo es poner los avances del an\u00e1lisis gen\u00e9tico al servicio de la sociedad.<\/p>\n<p>Esta misi\u00f3n llev\u00f3 a Sistemas Gen\u00f3micos a ser la primera empresa en implantar tecnolog\u00eda de secuenciaci\u00f3n masiva en diagn\u00f3stico gen\u00e9tico en Europa, y ahora es la primera entidad en adoptar Watson for Genomics tambi\u00e9n en Europa.
